US India Chamber of Commerce Austin launched with objective of supporting Business ties between Central Texas and India
Austin, TX – August 5th, 2023 – The city of Austin witnessed a momentous occasion on August 3rd as the US India Chamber of Commerce Austin was officially launched at the prestigious Austin Central Library. The event brought together prominent dignitaries, business leaders, and community members to celebrate the establishment of this vital institution aimed at fostering economic ties and promoting bilateral trade and investment opportunities between the United States and India.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. KV Subramanian, the 17th Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India and Executive Director at International Monetary Fund (India), whose vast experience and insights into international business economics set the tone for the chamber’s mission. His speech emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy between the two nations, underlining the vast potential for economic growth that exists through a strong US-India partnership.
Other prominent speakers included India’s Houston Consul General, Mr. D.C. Manjunath, who highlighted the strong historical ties between India and the United States and expressed his optimism for the future of trade and commerce between the two countries.
Congressman Lloyd Doggett, reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering business relationships with India and lauded the efforts of the newly established US India Chamber of Commerce Austin. A special message from Senator John Cornyn’s office was conveyed during the event, reaffirming the government’s endorsement of the Chamber’s initiatives and objectives.
Several other distinguished guests and political figures attended the launch, including Hon. House Rep Vikki Goodwin, whose continuous support for economic growth and cooperation between India and the United States was acknowledged and appreciated.
The US India Chamber of Commerce Austin’s board members were also introduced during the event, including Chairman Anupam Govil, founding board member Gita Lal and Secretary Chirag Shah, who are prominent figures in the business community deeply committed to the chamber’s success.
The US India Chamber of Commerce Austin is an affiliate of the well-established US India Chamber of Commerce DFW. By expanding its presence to Austin, the chamber aims to strengthen economic ties between the two regions and facilitate mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities.
Speaking about the launch, Chairman Anupam Govil said, “Austin has the fastest growing Indian American community in the nation. Our Chamber will serve as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, businesses, and professionals, fostering collaboration and driving growth across Central Texas.”
The launch event garnered widespread appreciation and support from over 200 attendees and set the stage for an exciting journey ahead for the US India Chamber of Commerce Austin. The Chamber plans to have its next networking event soon and a Health and Wellness themed event later in Fall.
